I had a stash of Makita 18V batteries collecting dust, and I desperately needed a reliable USB power bank. So, from idea to reality: Get these essential chips (not affiliated link): https://www.banggood.com/DC-Buck-Module-12V24V-to-QC3_0-Single-USB-Mobile-Charging-Board-p-1310585.html Next, I printed the base and top in my favorite color, using clear for a see-through effect. Then, I added a blue LED that shines through the lid to indicate when it's powered on. Using a router or my go-to tool, I carefully cut out the contacts from the circuit board. If you're using hand tools, be sure to size them to 20mmx20mm and add a smooth curve to the bottom so they slide into the battery easily. After that, I soldered a wire between the top of the contacts and the USB charging circuit, double-checking for correct polarity. Once secured, I slid the contacts into their slots and locked them in place with a drop of CA glue. Finally, I put on the lid, clicked my Makita battery to the MUPB, and admired my brand-new, massive power bank!
