Munchbox latch

Munchbox latch

My wife suggested I create a new latch for our MunchBox using my 3D printer, now that I have the hang of Fusion 360. The original latch consistently breaks at its pivot point, and even replacement latches share this weakness. I designed a revised latch with a slightly tighter fit when in the locked position. With time, it may become even more secure. However, I anticipate some users may find the new latch too tight for young children, requiring a bit of sanding on the locking edge. If necessary, I can redraw the design to increase clearance and make it easier to use. To assemble the new latch, drill 2mm holes in its hinge pin locations. Then, press in the old 2mm pins using the correct positioning on the lunchbox case, securing them with a drop of super glue to prevent them from coming loose. The pink version shown in photos was printed in ABS plastic using my upgraded Tevo Tranantula 3D printer in a semi-enclosed environment to minimize warping and delamination. This design is incredibly strong, even at a 100% fill rate – I tested it by smashing it with a hammer three times, resulting only in minor bruising on the test latch.
