Meresamun's elite status as Singer in the Interior of the Temple of Amun shines brightly on her beautifully decorated coffin. As an elite musician priestess, she was tasked with singing and creating music to appease the powerful god Amun, a crucial element in Egyptian religion that helped calm the gods. Meresamun, along with fellow Priestesses, accompanied the lead priest as he performed daily rituals three times a day. Her family's wealth is evident in the vibrant colours and symbols adorning her coffin. A stunning vulture headress, typically worn by high-ranking women and Priestesses, sits atop her adorned body. Below the collar, the Four Sons of Horus stand guard, protecting the organs removed during mummification. In the centre of the coffin, a majestic falcon soars, representing Re, the god of eternal rebirth. Wedjat eyes on the side of the coffin beam with health and regeneration, while snakes with sun discs on their heads provide protection from behind. Thebes, Egypt
