The Egyptian deity Osiris is revered for his association with the afterlife, the underworld, and rebirth. Typically depicted as a green-skinned figure with a pharaoh's beard, partially wrapped in mummy wrappings from the knees down, he wears an atef crown and grasps a symbolic crook and flail. His sister and wife Isis played a pivotal role in his association with mummification, wrapping his body after his brother Set brutally killed him and dismembered him into pieces. Osiris is also considered the eldest son of Geb, the earth god, and Nut, the sky goddess. Furthermore, he is regarded as both brother and husband to Isis, while their son Horus was seen as a posthumous offspring born after Osiris' untimely demise.
