Osiris is Egypt's revered god of eternal life, the underworld, and rebirth. Depicted classically as a verdant-skinned deity with an emperor's regal beard, partially swaddled in mummy wrappings at the legs, Osiris wears a striking atef crown, grasping a symbolic crook and flail. He was one of the first to be linked with the mummification process, as his sister and wife Isis carefully wrapped his body after her brother Set brutally killed him and dismembered his remains. Osiris is also considered the eldest son of Geb, the earth god, and Nut, the celestial goddess, while being both brother and husband to Isis, with Horus regarded as their posthumously conceived offspring.
