Multisize Plectrum Organizer
thingiverse
My take on a guitar pick holder. I've seen some pretty designs, but I was concerned about practicality and ability to hold different sizes. I use a few different sizes in my home studio, to switch between styles and between guitar and bass. -Capacity: it's designed for 4 standard size picks (mid section) 4 smaller picks (typically Jazz III) and 2 bigger picks (up to 5mm thick). The small and medium slots are about 3mm thick, so you may stack even more thin picks in them (it is just less practical to grab the individual picks - you gain storage at the expense of ease of use). The design is parametric, so if you need a particular configuration with more or less slot types, I could quickly create one for you. -Versatility: the bottom of the pockets are shaped to work with various types of point, from the usual rounded to pointy jazz style picks. As a side effect, picks can also be instered slightly diagonally, which makes them stick out a little more, maybe an easy way to earmark your favorite pick? -Stacking: the Organizers can be stacked front to back for a nice neat row. -Mounting: You will notice there are other files, those are for mounting the Organizer on a hard surface and make sure it doesn't slide off in the fire of action and sends your picks into another dimension, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid here. I designed 4 mounts, one for a single Organizer, 2 for double mouting (side to side and front to back) and a 2x2 mount for 4 Organizers. I have not tested the 2x2 but it is based off of the other mounts, which do work. Should you want to use the mounts: -The fit has a slight clearance, but elephant's foot can be troublesome. Try to mitigate it, or simply shave off the excess. -They assemble as a ring from the top of the Organizer -The holes are clearance holes for 3mm countersunk screws -I sacrificed the accessibility of the screws at the back in order to keep the footprint compact. This means the mounting procces is usually to: -1. tighten the back screws, bend the mount up a bit, lifting the front -2. fit the Organizer(s) tilted forward, front first, then lay it flat -3. make sure the rear tab goes in the slot of the mount -4. bring back the front of the mount down onto the mounting surface -5. insert the front screws
