A clutch serves as a mechanism that facilitates the transfer of power and motion from one component, known as the driving member, to another, referred to as the driven member. It enables controlled transmission in terms of amount or time; for example, electric screwdrivers employ clutches to limit torque, while automobiles use them to regulate engine power distribution to wheels when engaged, but can be disengaged when needed.
