Multicolor Gradient Hexagonal Filament
myminifactory
You've always dreamed of crafting your very own multicolored filament? Well, now's the time! Here's how: To create your own filament, all you need to do is print it. The main body is a hexagonal shaped spiral, inspired by this fantastic video from Sunshine. For more detailed information, be sure to check out my Instructable for this project. In the download section, you'll find STL files for different types of hexagonal filaments: * Dual Color filament * Multi Color for multi material devices * Rainbow filament for single extruder You'll also discover a F3D (Fusion360) file of the filament, in case you want to make any changes. To get started, you'll need: * A 3D printer with at least 205 mm x 205 mm bed size * PLA filament in various colors All files are designed for a specific resolution: First layer height: 0.2 mm Other layers: 0.12 mm Don't print them in any other resolution! Dual-Sided filament: Print File "Hex_Filament_9.5_meters_DualColor_V01", pause halfway, and swap the filament. Resume printing and finish with the second color. For more information, watch this video: Multi Color for multi material devices: You'll need these files: * 01_Hex_Filament_9.5_meters_multi_bottom_0.2_V01 * And all other 14 files with "multi" written behind "meters_" (15_Hex_Filament_9.5_meters_multi_Color01_0.92_V01 is the last one). Load all files in your slicer or software, print the "bottom" and "upper" files in clear filament, and the "Color" files in any color you like. For more information, watch these videos: Rainbow filament for single extruder: These files are designed for a double rainbow filament. You'll need all 28 files, starting with "01_Hex_Filament_9.5_meters_bottom_0.2_V01" to "28_Hex_Filament_9.5_meters_upper_0.92_V01" (the ones without the word "multi" in them). Print each file exactly in this order, change the filament after each print into the one that's next, and make sure the printbed stays hot during your filament swaps. The color order for the rainbow should be: clear, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, orange, yellow, green, blue violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, clear For more information, watch these videos: Printing with hexagonal shaped filament: Hexagonal filament prints differently than round filament!
