Multiboard-Compatible Lego Insect Display Trays
prusaprinters
This is a Multiboard-compatible display stand for the Lego Insect Collection kit (21342). It consists of two parts: the tray, which is agnostic to any mounting system, and the tray holder, which is Multiboard-specific.The individual insects' bases are not symmetrical so there's a “right” and “wrong” way to seat them in the trays - it should not require any pressure to get them into position if your printer is in good shape. The tray itself, however, is symmetrical on the outside so it can be positioned in the holder however you'd like.I would recommend using something like Museum Putty to hold the insects into the trays. To be cautious, I would also recommend using Museum Putty to hold the tray into its holder, although one of the ones I have on display does not use it and hasn't had any issues.I printed these in PETG with 0.2mm layer height with:Three perimeters at 15% infill for the tray.Four perimeters at 20% infill for the tray holder due to the torque applied by the tray/model.The tray in its current form uses way more filament than it technically has to but I want it to be suitable for table display as well as wall-mounted display. Hollowing it out with e.g. a negative volume cylinder in your slicer with a ~10mm lip would reduce filament consumption for wall-only display.
