Human: Multi-well plates prove to be incredibly useful for treating plant seedlings simultaneously. The 3D printed inserts can easily be glued onto standard 12 cm square Petri dishes [Greiner Bio-One, Item No.: 688161](https://shop.gbo.com/en/germany/products/bioscience/microbiology-bacteriology/dishes/square-petri-dish/688161.html) to create 4-well, 6-well and 8-well Petri Plates. The plating guide is specifically designed to accommodate a 12 cm square plate and clearly marks preferred seed positions: square holes indicate ideal spots for root growth assays, while round + square holes mark optimal positions for germination assays. Seeds can be precisely placed on the desired spot in the plate using a sterile toothpick. Seed positions on the guides for 4- and 6-well plates are carefully optimized for imaging using [SPIRO](https://www.alyonaminina.org/spiro), ensuring the perfect distance between seeds and plate edges. Unfortunately, the 8-well plate is less than ideal for SPIRO-aided imaging.
