A versatile stand that can hold a variety of items is made using 3D printing. The stand has adjustable height, angle, and position settings, allowing it to accommodate different types of materials such as books, magazines, tablets, drinks, or small plates. The structural support for the stand is provided by extrusion made from 2020 V-Slot material. This material was chosen because of its durability and versatility. To build this stand, you will need the following components: * 1.6 meters of 2020 V-Slot extrusion * 4 x 625ZZ bearings * 14 x M5 T-nuts * 14 x M5x10mm cap head bolts * 2 x M5x50mm cap head bolts (for pivoting joints) * 2 x M5x40mm cap head bolt (for vertical clamp and toothed pivot) * 3-5 x M5 washers * 2 x M5 nuts (standard) You will also need two Printed Nut Holders, which can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:641854 or http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1177235. To assemble the stand: 1. Print all parts and clean up any brim or bridged sections. 2. Use a drill to clean printed holes if desired. 3. Epoxy two plate pieces together. 4. Cut 2020 extrusion into three pieces: one for the vertical section, two for the base. 5. Assemble the base with 10 M5x10mm bolts and T-nuts. 6. Tap the top of the upper vertical piece to an M5 thread or drill it to 4.5mm and force the M5 bolt to cut its own threads (use a bit of oil). 7. Press fit bearings into the arms, making sure they go in square to avoid cracking. 8. Add the vertical section using remaining T-nuts and 10mm bolts plus one long bolt and M5 nut for the clamp. 9. Assemble the top section using 3-4 washers for the middle joint and one for the connection on top of the extrusion. 10. Bolt the assembly to the top of the 2020 extrusion with the tapped hole. Optional: To add stability, you can bolt some steel flat bar to the 2020 aluminum at the bottom of the stand using T-nuts and M5 bolts.
