Multi Use Ball Joint For Selfie Stick, Recording Boom, Mini Tripod etc.

I'm experimenting with a ball joint made from ABS plastic, still in prototype form but functional. It's usable as a pocket camera selfie stick, a recording boom for a Zoom H2, or paired with a mini tripod. If you want to support a heavier camera or mic, simply make the design bigger and stronger. The modeling process is easy, and it's expandable with new ideas. One thing I'm still missing is an example of a secure locking mechanism for the ball joint. You can figure it out yourself using your available boom materials or try one of my suggestions... What type of boom material do you have? For those interested in creating their own model, I've uploaded a video tutorial and additional tips on YouTube: http://youtu.be/XX4XCfG6Tc0. The files are available in both 1x and 100x scale STL formats. When printing the parts, I recommend using a 1/4" 20 UNC bolt that's 1 inch long (approximately 25mm) or a 2-inch (50mm) long thread bar/bolt with matching nuts. Be cautious when attaching these to your camera, as some may have an original Whitworth screw with a 55-degree thread angle, while the UNC has a 60-degree angle. The bolt length can be adjusted to fit your specific needs.
