Multi-spool filament rack and parametric spool hub
thingiverse
I utilize triangular legs to slide directly onto three sections of 8 mm fiberglass rod to secure spools in place. It successfully supports me as I feed from above, employing wire shelving, allowing for smooth gliding left to right to maintain a steady supply flow. While slightly wobbly side-to-side, it's capable of holding some weight and functions effectively without modifications. Bending occasionally during handling, yet proving sturdy when in operation, and not prone to breakage under normal usage conditions. The newer 'girder' design is now integrated into the system. A custom Scad script for bespoke spool hubs has also been included for added versatility. When utilizing 8 mm shafts, I recommend the orange snow plow driveway marker rods, specifically those that measure four feet in length and cost approximately two dollars.
