Multi-purpose desk clamp/stalk - add your own fixture!
thingiverse
I required a means to attach my GoPro camera directly in front of my printer for purposes of capturing timelapse photography during prints, so I headed straight to Solidworks to design a clamp for my desk. I had an existing STL file for a GoPro mount lying around and figured if I could merely combine it with the top of the clamp's STL in Autodesk Netfabb, that should work out just fine. And indeed it did turn out great. It then dawned on me that this same process could be applied to nearly anything else, so I decided to upload the unmodified clamp base for other users who might have another application in mind. Webcam mounts, phone holders, cable tidiers; surely better than some guy posted one day to Thingiverse (disclaimer: results may vary). Printing Guidelines The piece shown in the photos was printed in lime green ABS at 235/80 with a 0.6mm nozzle, brim and 0.21875mm layer heights, but a standard 0.4 will work just fine. Note - don't print as shown in the STL previews, parts will require rotating to print properly. The clamp bracket will likely be stronger if printed on its side instead with regard to loading/layer orientation, though, as long as care is taken to ensure the internal thread is printing correctly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPaOJwpgPAA Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Select Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.21875mm Infill: 50% Post-Printing No post-processing necessary besides removal of any rafts/brim/supports. I designed this item in Solidworks and sliced it in Simplify3D.
