Multi-Mouse Jar Trap (v.3)

Multi-Mouse Jar Trap (v.3)

OK, I think I've finally got it. This version uses a tilting ramp like the Victor Tin Cat mouse trap. As the mouse goes up the ramp, the ramp tilts down, admitting the mouse to the jar with the tasty bait. Once it steps off the ramp, though, the ramp tilts back up blocking its exit. I've posted two different versions: one that is used with a standard wide-mouth Mason jar and ring lid, and the other with a screw thread for use on 36 oz Adams Peanut Butter jars. (We have a lot of these jars.) The tilting ramp has a little pocket that accepts three US pennies to act as a counterweight. Also, the ramp pivots on two short pieces of 1.75mm filament used as hinge pins. (Just position the ramp in place and poke short pieces of filament in the holes on either side, trimming them short so the mice can't gnaw on them.) Bait with a little peanut butter at the bottom of the jar. Watch it in action: https://youtu.be/XeVmtk-kwQg
