Multi-filament spool rack
thingiverse
This thing is made up of two parts: feet (130mm on each side) and joints. You'll need to print at least two of each. To get started, you'll also need some 20x20 profile (like the one shown here) and a rigid (metal, up to 8mm diameter) bar or bars. The assembly is straightforward: simply put some 20x20 profile into the feet on one side, and into the joint on the other side to create the first level. Connect two joints with another 20x20 profile to add a story. Once you've done this twice (two legs), attach the spools using an 8mm steel bar. You're all set. I've installed mine behind my printer, added five spools of one kilogram each (and plan to continue extending it). It works beautifully, removing the spool from the printer and reducing vibration when moving. Plus, it saves a lot of room and hassle by keeping all my filament spools in one place. The STL files and FreeCAD source are included, so feel free to enjoy, share, or remix them as you see fit.
