Multi-Compartment Key-Holder
thingiverse
I've been working on this project for a long time, and it's the main reason I bought my 3D printer. I'm tired of digging through my front pocket to find the right key, only to discover that it takes me a few seconds to locate which one I need. I wanted to create something that would organize my keys in a neat layout and solve these issues once and for all. However, I found that existing solutions online, even within the 3D printing community, didn't quite meet my requirements, although this design on Thingiverse came close. In addition to storing my keys, I also wanted to include some storage space as part of the design. Since I was already carrying a bulky rectangle in my pocket, I figured it wouldn't make a big difference if it were slightly larger and had more features. This is the latest iteration of several designs, and it's still a work in progress. I plan to add more features and refine the design over time, but for now, I'm happy with how it turned out. ### Features * Small multi-purpose box that can hold a folded £20 note, as well as various medications like paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistamines, and Rennie tablets. It can also store other small items. * 4mm hex bit/screwdriver holder and socket * USB slot designed to fit this specific USB stick * Latches on the USB slot and both containers with magnetic ejection for the 4mm hex bit container * Space for up to three standard keys, although modifications or shims may be needed to fit most keys * Planned feature: an ultrabright LED torch * Five magnets embedded in one face of the keyring to help locate screws when dropped on carpet * Tesco and Sainsburys reward card barcodes that can be cut and press-fit into place ### Bill of Materials * Three 4mm nuts and bolts (I bought mine from a local hardware store, so these may not fit exactly) * Four 4mm washers (printed washers might work just as well) * Three glasses/watch screws (I used 2.5x1.4x8.0mm screws) * Two springs taken from any generic pen * One Kingston USB stick * Nine 3mm dia x 2mm thick neodymium magnets
