Multi bottle bird feeder parametric
thingiverse
I had printed a bird feeder and screwed a 1.5 liter soda bottle onto it. The little critters adore it. A bit too much for my liking. Now I'm allowed to refill the thing every two days. So, I built a bird feeder that has a bit more capacity. If you want one like that as well, please start very slowly. 1.The thread needs to fit perfectly and not every printer is set up flawlessly. So, just print out a thread and see if it fits nicely with your bottles. Begin with 101%. The threads are in the "Threads" folder 2.Copy the thread that fits best into the folder where the "Multi Bottle Bird Feeder.scad" file resides and rename it to "Thread.stl". 3.Open the "Multi Bottle Bird Feeder.scad" file and adjust everything to your liking. If you don't speak English, you'll probably need Google Translate. What's crucial is the diameter of the bottles! So, take a tape measure and divide the circumference by 3.141592653589793. It has been shown that it's better to add a few millimeters to the diameter. Caution! The calculations are extensive and time-consuming. No, your computer isn't broken! 4.When I wrote the script, I thought printing would be better if everything was upside down. Unfortunately, that was incorrect. So, please turn it around in the slicer. You'll need support, preferably "Everywhere" but lines will suffice. If possible, set the angle high; 85° is sufficient for a clean print, and you'll have to grind away less. 5.Since the attachment point would be below the center of gravity, you now need to print a support ring. Through the support ring, guide the cord or wire where you want to hang the bird feeder. So that the ring doesn't slip through to the bird feeder, make a knot in the string or use a clothespin. If you want to use many bottles but only have a small printer, you can split the ring into pieces. Except for the attachment "hanging", there's also the possibility "standing". Stock = 1; Here, I assume that you hammer an old broomstick into the ground and place the bird feeder on it. Unfortunately, you'll have to accept a lot of loss in support in this variant. If you don't want that and have good glue, you can use the "Befestigung am Stock.scad" file and glue the attachment later. UPDATE: I made a 38 mm version.
