Muffin Splitter
thingiverse
UPDATE 1-19-16 I ditched support requirements and empty triangles that added no real benefits, so I whipped up a remix using solid triangles instead. The new files are muffin splitter V2 SAE.stl and muffin splitter V2 Metric.stl I just printed one without any support or extra filament, thanks to Afinia's default settings - 0.3mm Z, medium speed. The result: 32 grams, 64 minutes. This nifty little gadget is called a muffin splitter or muffin fork, designed to create perfect nooks and crannies. I was working on an "English" muffin recipe and ended up with loads of muffins that needed proper splitting. After searching for commercial examples and trying out a few ideas, I came up with this simple wedge design that worked the best - just push it into the edge of a thawed muffin, and crumbs easily brush off. Used carefully, there's no need to wash this thing. I printed this on an Afinia using default settings and it took around 60 minutes and about 30 grams ABS.
