Was printed with a pla... But PET maybe a better choice in case of mechanical stress and temperature from the surroundings Hello Everybody, Short story (longer below) Needed to replace a part on the mudguard of the cube Ella 240 made of plastics- where such part are for good reasons not made of plastics (mechanical wear? does it ring bells?) If you do so, one can expect at least to have very cheap replacement part available directly from the supplier... No. ===>>>Cube -- I am extremely disappointed For the price of the bicycle you made the choice of cheapness for vital mechanical parts... So here my Design in single piece instead of the two injection molded piece I hope it will help others. long story The bicycle of my daugther needed to be repaired because Cube made an interesting choice of using plastic parts for parts that usually need to support mechanical wear. This remember me of something a belgian comic designer sketches 30 years a go I guess. Namely Franquin. He was telling a fictive short story about a guy who went rich by selling screws and bolts nuts amde of an alloy Cardoard Zinc 90 to 10 %. Revolutionnising the industry. He was on a airplane telling his success story. However the last picture was a airplane losing parts.... because people starts to use his low quality stuff on vital parts in mechanics. Here fore me we are not so far from it. My daughter almost injuried herself there because the part was maintaining the mudguard in place. But the mudguard was connected to the main body of the bicycle though a plastic piece where a metal is inserted. However, if it breaks, the metal part goes into the tire, which can cause my dautgher to be ejected /falling violently on the ground... I think it is extremely irresponsible from them to sell this kind of vehicles that are meant to be driven.... And sorry for the price, having low budget plastic part for vital part... Moreover, this pieces cannot be replaced... although it is clearly an injection molded pieces.that cost probaly less than 50 cents.. They sell you the whole mudguard!!! WHAT!?! yes the whole one although the rest is OK! And you know what Cube is doing bad business....buying the cheapest, mass customisation at the lowest price possible...but not using their brain to make valuable bicycle....making them very dangerous because not having people that understand wearing of mechanical parts... I had other stuff I needed to repair as well... on the break... A 10 years oldeer bicycle were showing exactly the same technology... but all metal.... here, an important metal part is gone... And I think doing that reduces their cost of less than 10 Euros on a bicycle sold around 500 EUR... If they do that, one can imagine what are their revenue strategies - instead of making 10 EUR less margin and giving clearly more robust bicycle. I am furious. Therefore I decided to print a repair part for less than 1 Euros that i can replace myself if it breaks again. This is a repair part for a Cube Ella 240 (must work for a 200 as well)... (tow versions here one with the exact lenght and position of holes as on the original, the second with one more centimeter to reduce the ension this set up is building) Cube you want to be more fair??? Bring us your STL files for free sothat we can produce our own repair part. it is non commercial, but if someone does the job for you and mount it correctly- just be fair .
