Much sturdier base and wider tablet hooks to accommodate wider cases.
thingiverse
Thank you to the creator of this original design for sharing their tablet stand creation. I printed the three-piece assembly and modified the base to stiffen the entire structure, while maintaining flexibility to adjust holes for optimal tablet angle without excessive trouble. Printing this enclosed base with support in place of the original base significantly enhances the overall sturdiness of the stand. I also widened the hook piece that holds the tablet even further than its original wide version, allowing a Nexus 7 2013 with an Moko case or an 8.4" Galaxy Tab S tablet and Moko case to fit perfectly. If your existing hook piece is sufficient, simply printing this enclosed base will provide additional sturdiness; otherwise, print one of the hooks with support as well for wider hooks accommodating your wide tablet case. This is my first contribution to Thingiverse, and I hope you enjoy it. --- Update 10/14/20: I created a raised base platform add-on (Ipad_Stand_Base_enclosed_tall v14.stl in white), which is super glued to the original base for added height and stability. This design also allows a charging cable to be inserted and routed underneath, improving overall stability. The tall base serves as storage for small items. To complement this new base and ensure clearance for the charging cable, I designed a new slightly thicker hook piece (wide_tablet_hook_v4.stl), which improves clearance for the charging cable. I included both STL and STEP files for the tall base add-on and the new thicker tablet hook bracket to make customization easier if needed.
