MUAC bands for identification of malnutrition

Human: A reliable method for diagnosing severe acute malnutrition is the measurement of the middle upper arm circumference (MUAC). Current methods to measure MUAC in a pre-hospital setting involve using measuring tape indicators, which necessitate users to be trained in how to apply and adjust them properly. This represents a significant challenge when trying to use MUACs in many developing world contexts. This study investigates the technical feasibility of overcoming some of these challenges with conventional MUAC measurement methods using open-source 3-D printable click-MUAC bands.
