MTO's Concrete Herb Garden Planter 1:10 model
thingiverse
This is not a 3D-print project, but rather a printed representation of an idea as a visualization aid. I created a concrete herb planter to conceal my garden's sanitary tank vent and suction outlet. To illustrate the concept for my family, I built a 3D model. In reality, it measures 110 cm in diameter and stands 65 cm tall. Seven planting areas surround the central section, with a round wooden lid on top where a smaller planter or decorative item will be placed. We intend to plant oregano, thyme, wort, basil, chives, dill, and parsley initially. I'll monitor their performance and replace them as needed since there are numerous other herb options available. I won't be casting the actual concrete planter because it would be a challenging and expensive task. Instead, I'll use two layers of metal mesh and apply the concrete by hand to create a more organic appearance. This method will also allow me to achieve a unique, naturally dynamic finish. The second part involved creating the seven planters surrounding the center. To simplify the assembly process, I printed 30 mm plastic spacers in my printer. I used simple snap-on pieces instead of metal wire to connect all the components in place because the metal wire was too stiff and difficult to maneuver.
