I would consider scaling, with uniform scaling disabled, so that the long axis is longer. This will make the symbol and letters look stretched, though. Also if you prefer a thinner bookmark, I would consider scaling down the thickness - usually the z axis when printed laying flat. The version designed to be printed with two colors would likely work best as the the cutout version will likely loose the smaller connecting bits if the thickness is reduced too far.
