
MTG deckbox - Folding lid

This custom deckbox was inspired by a lasercut booklet-style design with a living hinge. Instead of a living hinge, I created a two-stage lid that features a spring-operated slide lock to hold the lid firmly closed. This deckbox can fit about 60 sleeved cards with room for extra cards. I originally planned on customizing it more with emblems, similar to my Golgari deckbox, but I'll leave that up to you guys. Materials Used: - 2 M3x12 bolts - 4 M2x20 bolts - A spring taken from a pen All the parts were designed to print without supports. The holes are teardrop-shaped and thus print without any issues (make sure the tip of the teardrop faces upwards!). The version I printed is slightly different from the CAD files. The real-life version was intended as a test, but I discovered some problems that I then fixed in the CAD models. However, I never printed a second version. If there's anything wrong with the files, please let me know. Assembly: The M3 bolts should thread themselves into the two holes at the front of the deckbox. They serve as guides for the slide to move smoothly along. To assemble the slide lock, simply place the 'slide.stl' part into the slot in the 'BookletBase.stl' with the latches facing right (the crescent-shaped side of the 'slide.stl' should be visible on the rightmost opening of the base). Make sure the slide can glide smoothly in the slot. Then, drop the spring into the slot on the left side of the slide. Next, thread in the M3 bolts to secure the slide in place. You might have to move the slide slightly to line up the holes (there should be some tension on the slide due to the spring when you assemble it). The slots in the slide should be wide enough for smooth gliding, and the holes in the base should be able to hold the M3 bolts securely. The slide should remain under slight tension from the spring at all times, so that the slide doesn't rattle and the spring doesn't fall out. For the lids, ensure you're placing them correctly. The two parts should fit nicely together with the base, leaving no gaps. There will be some gaps around the hinges, which is okay (they allow for free movement). The M2 bolt should thread into the 'WallSmall.stl' part, but the lid and base should have wider diameters to enable free movement. Let me know if you've built this deckbox or if there are any issues!
