Mt. Rainier

To obtain a 3-D printout of a specific region, I conducted extensive research followed by programming and tinkering. Despite facing some frustration, I ultimately managed to download a picture from Geomapapp, convert it to an STL file, and print it using a 3-D printer. It's highly likely that the image is of Mt. Rainier. For my friend's middle school geology class, I plan to develop a user-friendly version by March. In the meantime, if you'd like to create one yourself, follow these steps: 1. Download and run GeoMapApp. 2. Locate your desired object within the viewing window. 3. Disable the sun and switch the palette to black and white. 4. Save the map file as an image/grid file in .png format. 5. Open the .png file in Paint and crop away the Latitude and Longitude borders. 6. Install the stl_tools library for Python from GitHub. 7. Use stl_tools to convert the .png into an .stl file. 8. Print your creation and enjoy the result!
With this file you will be able to print Mt. Rainier with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Mt. Rainier.
