MSR Snow shoe heel guard
thingiverse
Climbers require 8 nuts and 8x20 counter sunk M5 machine bolts per pair of shoes to assemble, which involves placing a total of four nuts and four machine bolts per shoe. The design ensures the 50mm wide guard fits comfortably around a typical female heel, while the 66mm wide guard is intended for men who need additional support. This modification was implemented after my partner experienced problems with her heel slipping off her Lightning Ascents while climbing. This resulted in reduced efficiency during ascents and ultimately led to hip strain after extended periods of climbing. By increasing the surface area of contact between the heel and the raised bar, this fix significantly improves overall performance. It is recommended that you print this design using ABS material with solid infill for optimal results.
