Based on the PSG1 from Heckler & Koch, it shoots 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition. The MSG90 stands for Militarisch Scharfschutzen Gewehr, with the "1990" part referring to the year this sniper rifle was designed. The Heckler & Koch MSG90 was first introduced in 1987 and features a delayed blowback design similar to many other H&K rifles. As an improvement over the PSG1, it is designed for military and police use, meeting the US Army's M24 Sniper Weapon System specifications. Compared to the PSG1, this model has several notable improvements. The barrel is lighter and shorter, manufactured using the cold hammer forging process. Additionally, the stock is adjustable with a unique shape, while the trigger features a wider design with a 3.3-pound (1.5 kg) trigger pull set from the factory. This model does not come equipped with open sights but includes a 10-power Telescopic sight. Unlike its predecessor, the PSG1, which struggled to withstand rough handling on the battlefield, the MSG90 is specifically designed for such demanding service conditions. The MSG90A1 features a threaded barrel for accepting suppressors, while the later MSG90A2 boasts a lighter and more robust design.
