mri2stl: A Docker Container for Brain Recreation
thingiverse
I loved how a method existed for converting MRI data into a 3D model of my brain, but I realized it's really frustrating to have to install FSL and FreeSurfer on Linux only. The `3Dprinting_brain.sh` script provided wasn't very user-friendly either. As such, I made a Docker container that has everything you need to turn your raw scan data into a .stl file for 3D printing. It works! Here are the outputs of the 160-slice and 24-slice scans I uploaded earlier. Notice how the output is lower quality when there are fewer slices. If you want to make your own (if you've had an MRI, ask for the data on a CD), follow along at my GitHub repo. An instructable is in progress!
