Part; T-top SUNSHADE latch pieces.Application; Toyota MR2, AW11 body style.Versions; two versions1) Individual OEM parts (if some of your original parts are usable)2) Modified, all printed parts (if your latch is gone or totally broken)Notes; ASA filament recommended (gets really hot in the direct sun).OEM notes; Both the sunshades I was asked to fix had the same failure at the KNOB. Looks like the screw hole blew out from age and turning the wrong way to release. The arm and collar were all good.I did a little cleanup to the knob, removing the broken bits and melting in an M3 insert. Actually turned out much stronger than stock and only took a few minutes.I went ahead and designed a replacement arm and collar too since I had some good parts to copy.1) Knob/Shaft only; --This is what I expect is the most common repair needed---Reference the photos. Grind (dremel) the broken center shaft about 1mm below flush with the ring surrounding it. Grind the tabs/ears attached to the shaft a little lower until flush with the lowest part of the knob inside the circle. DO NOT GRIND THE SMALL HALF CIRCLE TABS ATTACHED TO THE CIRCLE, those are needed to keep the shaft and knob keyed together. I used a cutoff disk to roughly shape everything as it is not critical, only has to be low enough to fit together. The printed shaft should fit inside the circle and flush with the top of the circle. After the fit is correct, use a 4mm drill bit, BY HAND!!, to open the top 1 or 2 mm of the screw hole in the knob ( to help align the M3 insert). Melt in an M3 treaded insert (Available on Amazon for cheap). I just use a soldering iron and checked it is straight before it cools. Put it together with an M3x16mm screw and an M4 washer (yes, M4 washer). All the tolerances are tight so a small amount of gentle cleaning might be needed based on your printer. Is much easier than it sounds.2) Arm only. Print top down with supports (only for the center hole). Direct replacement.3) Bushing. Direct replacement. The all new parts version is a little thicker and not compatible with any of the OEM parts. Use this if you have no salvageable parts and HAVE to replace everything.Everything screws together with the same M3x16 screw and M4 washer as above. The KNOB is designed for an M3 insert. If you want to just tread the screw into the hole without the insert, reduce the hole to 2.5mm DIAMETER to directly thread in the screw.ALL PARTS ARE VERY TIGHT. Depending on your printer, you might to some light cleanup to the parts.Good luck and don’t run with scissors.
