Every year, we head out to a local pumpkin patch and pick up two pumpkins. We usually go the second week of October - just two weeks before Halloween - and carve them on the spot. Come Halloween time, those pumpkins are nothing but empty shells of their former selves. This year, I decided to mix things up and wait until right before Halloween to carve our pumpkins. But we still wanted to find some way to make use of them until then. That's when it hit me - it would be adorable if there were Mr. Potato Head-style pieces you could swap in and out. So, I sat down with FreeCAD for about an hour and whipped up two separate faces - one just for me and one for my girlfriend. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from mixing and matching parts from both faces to create the perfect combination. Print those pieces with the pins facing upwards. Once they're printed, you might want to give the mouths a quick blast with a hair dryer and gently bend them so they conform to the natural curve of your pumpkin.
