Mr. Anatomi - Mini Anatomy Art Toy Character I'm passionate about SLA 3D printing because of its incredible detail and precision. However, I've noticed that it often can only print in one color at a time. Why is this the case? This question led me to design a character called "Mr. Anatomi," an art toy with a transparent body that showcases his skeleton, brain, heart, liver, stomach, and other internal organs by injecting colored resin into his body without requiring any painting skills! Design & Technical When it comes to designing Mr. Anatomi, I had to choose clear resin so you could see inside him clearly. To achieve this, I polished the model in post-processing using a combination of 800 grit sandpaper and acrylic spray for an ultra-smooth finish. Due to the shrinkage of resin, supports play a crucial role in ensuring accurate printing and increasing success rates. Therefore, I made sure that Mr. Anatomi has no internal supports, which can leave marks or get clogged. When printing hollow objects, it's essential to design them so that liquid can flow throughout the hollows to prevent resin from getting trapped inside. If this happens, it could lead to clogs. From concept and technical aspects to a unique character design in an isometric cube style, I've made sure that Mr. Anatomi is easy to polish, has no internal support, and allows liquid to flow through his hollows. This approach has several benefits, including a seamless model with no undercuts. This is the advantage of 3D printing technology that traditional production methods cannot match. Print Setting The sample was printed in clear resin using a Form2 3D printer at 100 micron layer thickness, 0.5 mm touch point, and turned internal supports off. I designed the file to follow these settings, so you don't have to worry about failed prints. I've learned a lot from this project and really enjoy sharing my experience with others.
