MPSM Cheapus Ultimus Maximus
thingiverse
In the beginning there was Cheapus Maximus. Then Dantu created an improved version with enhanced support capabilities. Cantilevers are frustrating; more support is always a welcome improvement. Dantu proposed expanding the design by 50mm, utilizing 350mm rails to achieve this goal. I implemented the suggested modification. This project remains a work in progress as new ideas emerge for improved heat and bed leveling systems. However, I need to complete the Mk 1 model before exploring these concepts further. Update: I've posted my initial attempt at enhanced bed leveling. Unfortunately, my backup printer is currently out of commission due to maintenance issues. Although I haven't had a chance to test this design yet, I'm sharing it with you for your reference and feedback. To implement this system, use the original bed springs and cups under the bed mounts but only employ three of them – placing one in the center and two at the rear – to achieve 3-point leveling. If this doesn't yield satisfactory results, you can easily switch to a 4-point leveling configuration by using the existing holes. I recommend acquiring smaller, lighter springs to install beneath the original heated bed and securing them with lock nuts on the screws' bottom ends. The original bed will serve as a spring-loaded reference against the glass plate of the new bed, but it won't be used for actual leveling due to its inaccuracy without precise measurements from the glass plate – which I'll obtain after printing it. To tighten the Y belt efficiently, I've prepared to use the No Drill Monoprice MP Select Mini GT2 Y Tensioner by Divide. I made some adjustments to this design to ensure compatibility with my project's requirements. That's where this project stands at present; it may take a month for me to get my second printer operational due to shipping delays from China. If anyone attempts this build, please share your feedback or post any questions you might have regarding the process.
