MPSM Beefier Z-axis tapered coupler
thingiverse
I managed to snap one of the nuts on my original and wasn't pleased with having to crank on both simultaneously to tighten either. So, I stretched it out and added a hex nut directly onto the coupler itself, beefing up both nuts in the process. There's an extended hole inside on the side for the threaded rod that allows it to go all the way through, rather than lifting the rod up into the extruder motor. During design of the coupler, I had a brain fart and made the hex not an actual standard size, so it would be best to use an adjustable wrench for it. If I need to make any other adjustments, I'll fix that. I put a small nylon washer on the motor shaft first to help prevent any up-and-down play in the motor. Still in testing and would appreciate some feedback if you try it out. *Edit 5-6-17: It turned out that the original coupler had some missing geometry. If you're having issues with it breaking, try the Coupler_Fixed.stl Print Settings: Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.175mm Infill: 100% Notes: You might not need 100% infill, but with parts this small I'd rather err on the side of caution.
