Meshcube Lamp / Netzwurfel Lampe The mesh lampshade concept is not a new idea, but I wanted to try it out using my multi-purpose-frame (MPF). This project was the first test of my MPF's capabilities. The design is straightforward, consisting of two parts that make up the vertical and horizontal bars of the cubic frame. The provided files contain either one or four of these parts. A wave pattern at the edges serves as a holder for the cord. I recommend hanging the frame rotatably to access all sides easily. To secure the cord, I applied wood glue overnight and wrapped it around the cube 20-25 times. In retrospect, I should have covered the plastic parts with foil or tape before extraction. The shadow pattern created by the lamp requires dim illumination, such as a string of lights. Initially, I planned to use just the cord cube as the lampshade for an invisible frame effect. However, my wife suggested printing another frame using fluorescent PLA. This turned out to be a better idea, although it required different temperature settings.
