MPCNC Z Axis M4 (7mm) Nut Trap and Drill Guide
thingiverse
These files are for individuals building Vicious 1's MPCNC in Australia: We can't easily purchase M3.5 bolts and nuts locally. Also, the M4 nuts available here are far too loose in the nut traps. So I redesigned the parts from scratch to change the nut trap sizes - it was easier than altering the STL files. **Nut Trap** I wanted a nut trap that worked with M4 nuts readily available to me. There is no fun in a nut trap that doesn't trap nuts. When building the MP CNC in Australia, poorly sized nut traps proved to be the biggest pain. This design suits: 25.4mm Conduit available in Australian Bunnings stores; M4 nuts that fit in a 7mm socket; M4x20mm bolts. This nut trap has hexagon recesses with an edge-to-edge distance of 7.2mm, which suits 7mm M4 nuts much better than the original nut trap from Vicious 1 Engineering (8.2mm, possibly for American nuts). **Drill Guide** I also include my disposable drill guide that may help you drill your conduit in the right places. The holes are spaced 75mm apart with a diameter of 4mm for M4 bolts. Just align the end with the edge of the conduit and start drilling (it does need to be printed with some support). **M4 Tool Mount** This tool mount was made from scratch in F360, designed to use with M4 Nuts. The hexagon recesses have an edge-to-edge diameter of 7.3mm, which I found was a very snug fit when printed with my printer; I literally had to pull them in by tightening M4 bolts, after which they will never come out. F360 files. I normally put F360 files up so people can edit them, but these are copies of Vicious 1's design, so I won't put the editable files up here without his permission.
