MPCNC XY-Z Cable Chain

MPCNC XY-Z Cable Chain

thingiverse

This is another MPCNC cable chain for the Z axis electronics, connected to the XY carriage instead of the Z axis straight. This setup potentially reduces torque applied to the Z axis from the chain itself. The chains listed on Thingiverse are either too small or too large for my preference. I wanted a custom print with links in place, so I based this design on the larger one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1429885 It printed nicely but was too big. To fix this, I scaled down the chain about 75% and adjusted link tolerances accordingly. As a test, I printed a three-piece section; six- and nine-piece files are essentially the same. The aluminum angle is one inch wide. The angle mount file is for one only, requiring another to be printed mirrored from the same file. Mounts are designed for NEMA 23 motors. SKP files are provided for convenience and modifications. For NEMA 17 steppers, angle mounts need modification; I might add this later. The chain attaches to the angle with a clamp but can also be secured by #6 screws using the end link design.
