MPCNC tool mount 80mm 2.2kW spindle(water cooled) + 1.5kW version
thingiverse
This is a three-part tool mount for anyone who wants to use a 2.2kW Chinese spindle with an 80mm diameter. The mount works in conjunction with the F-ToolMount MPCNC 525 (25mm OD), as seen at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:790533/#files. The spindle itself is likely too heavy (around 4.5kg) for standard MPCNC designs when it comes to rigidity and axis movement capabilities. Additional reinforcements, a smaller frame size, reduced motor speed, or a switch to a more powerful torque motor (especially for the Z-axis) could help improve performance. To increase rigidity, I positioned the spindle as close as possible to the Z-axis. However, this resulted in a collision with two bolt heads, which need to be modified slightly (see photos for details). The bottom part of the mount features a flange that prevents the spindle from sliding down. For added support, I used two upper parts. You will require 1x M5x25mm and 2x M4x20mm fasteners for each mount section. 23/04/17 Update: As requested, I have added a mount version compatible with 1.5kW spindles featuring a 65mm diameter. The bottom part's inner flange has been modified to accommodate a 45mm diameter. Since I do not possess such a spindle, please provide feedback on how it performs.
