MPCNC - Parametric Tall Corner Block Remix for US & IE version
thingiverse
Update 3/10/16 I added an OpenSCAD test file to size locknut recesses so you don't have to print the whole flex leg to test the size. The file name is Test_NutSize.scad. Rev9 Update 3/9/16 After reviewing this design, I decided it would be better structurally to leave plastic vertically between X-axis & Y-axis pipe and just drill it out at top & bottom. You can change OpenSCAD code to your liking. I liked this design but wanted to adjust a few dimensions to use the least expensive bolt length possible. I sized my corners to use either M5x75mm bolts or #10x3" bolts. The 4 vertical bolt holes are on a 17.5mm x & Y offset from center, which seems to be the same as various accessory parts used on Totem mpcnc. I am remixing belt tensioning plate assembly and top limit switch plate that I will upload in the next day or so and add a link to them here. I included STL files for reference. I found some M5x75mm bolts currently priced at $0.05 each. http://www.mrmetric.com/Discount-Items/discounted-metric-socket-head-cap-screws/M11104.html Free shipping if your order is over $50. I found #10x3" (76.2mm long) bolts at local ACE store for $0.20 each. For Flex Foot, I included 3 STL file versions and 2 different OpenSCAD versions. 1st STL file is for US 3/4"EMT & #10 holes & Locknuts - Flex_Foot_ForTallCorner_No10Bolt_Rev22.stl 2nd STL file is for US 3/4"EMT & M5 holes & Locknuts - Flex_Foot_ForTallCorner_M5Bolt_Rev22.stl (I made hole size the same for M5 & #10, 6mm OD) 3rd STL file is for IE 25mm & M5 holes & locknuts - IE_Flex_Foot_ForTallCorner_M5Bolt_Rev22.stl If you want to change OpenSCAD files for Flex Foot between US & IE, the only difference with pipes is: Cyl_ID = 23.5; //US = 23.5, IE = 25.0 Cyl_OD = 35.5; //US = 35.5, IE = 37.0. There are several other variables you can adjust, but this should be all that is needed between IE & US version For Tall Corner blocks, I used 6mm thickness of plastic at the bottom & top. The spacing between both the IE & US version, I measured 27.5mm distance between center lines of pipes. The STL files I created with square corner at print surface, but you can change that to rounded if you want. My printer prints this better without the rounded overhangs. There are quite a few variables you can change in OpenSCAD & they should be well commented. The main variable to change between US & IE version is EMT_OD variable. You will need to print 2 copies of A, 2 copies of B and 8 copies of Flex Foot. I would 1st print only one tall corner & one flex foot to see how dimensions work for you before printing all the parts. I included STL files for US & IE version, but you may want to use OpenSCAD files to adjust to length bolts you want. Use more up-to-date STL & OpenSCAD files of these parts from: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1402584 I am still printing the parts for this upgrade so something may change. If I have missed anything here, feel free to comment. After 1st test fit, I noticed Y-axis limit switch is higher than roller lock. See http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1406498 for updated limit switch & roller Lock mod. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Makerfarm i3v 10 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Notes: I am using 40% infill for tall corners and 60% infill for flex feet as per original designer Allted recommends.
