MPCNC Makita vacuum mount
thingiverse
This is a dust collector and tool mount designed specifically for Makita RT0700 (Katsu 101758) routers. It also accommodates a Eureka R300 vacuum, allowing users to seamlessly integrate their vacuum with the dust collection system. Other hose adaptors can be fitted to suit various vacuum models. The primary objective was to create a compact and space-saving tool mount and dust collection system that maximizes efficiency without compromising performance. I aimed to design an innovative solution that addresses common issues associated with traditional dust shoe mounts, which often prove ineffective for smaller MPCNC builds (520mm x 520mm). Previous attempts at using other dust shoe mounts resulted in significant losses of X and Y space due to their bulkiness. To overcome this limitation, I designed a custom solution that minimizes space requirements while maintaining excellent performance. The assembly process is straightforward when followed in the correct order. First, attach the Right and Left ducts to the top manifold, utilizing the alignment features provided for ease of installation. Next, mount the bottom manifold to the MPCNC, followed by attaching the top manifold. The button should be placed in its designated hole before inserting the router, ensuring proper alignment with the router's button. Finally, screw the hose adaptor securely onto the top manifold. On April 9th, 2019, an update was implemented to enhance the design of the bottom bracket. This modification includes diversion channels for air expelled by the router during operation. To accommodate these changes, printing using support structures is required. Both V1 and V1.2 versions are available for users to choose from. During testing, it became apparent that the nuts and bolts holding the hose adapter to the upper manifold could interfere with Z axis bearings if the Z axis has more than 30mm of travel. To address this limitation, I plan to redesign the interface between these components in future updates. Special thanks are extended to GrabCAD for providing the RT0700C Tupia 710W Makita library, which facilitated modeling, and Allted for their contribution to the MPCNC design on Thingiverse (1671517).
