MPCNC cable chain supports (tape trick)
thingiverse
This is a DIY guide for creating supports for nylon cable chain using the "tape measure trick". The original challenge was finding a reliable way to secure the chain in place, so I designed these supports to fill that gap. You will need the following components: 2 x XY Chain Supports (Pulleys) 4 x Bearing Spacers (to mount the piece above) 2 x Optional XY Chain Support Rails (more details below) 1 x Z Chain Support (Motor) 1 x Z Chain Support (Top) 1 x Z Chain Support (Gantry) Assembly is straightforward, and you can refer to the photos for guidance. A few zip ties and some glue will get you going. The optional rail support allows for shorter chain lengths on the X and Y axes while keeping the workspace clear. My setup was glued in place, but you can drill holes if needed. The idea is to route cables through a hole in the rail to reach the axis cable junctions. I plan to do this soon and will add photos once it's done.
