HK MP7A2, chambered in 4.6x30mm. Designed to compete for NATO's new personal defense weapon contract, the HK MP7 was conceived as a game-changer, replacing outdated pistol-caliber sub-machine guns that dominated the second half of the 20th century. To meet the criteria, the gun had to be compact like a sub-machine gun but deliver rifle cartridge penetration power. The challenge was significant, given the emergence of virtually impenetrable Russian body armor, vulnerable only to high-velocity impacts. Although the MP7 performed admirably, it ultimately lost out to the FN P90 in the trial competition. However, thanks to Germany's veto on the P90's adoption, the MP7 remains a popular choice today, appreciated for its simplicity and more intuitive controls compared to its rival.
