MP Select Mini V2 bed mod brackets
thingiverse
These are brackets I designed to upgrade the size of my print bed on the MP Select Mini V2. They allow you to attach a larger build plate with precision. The tolerances on the holes may be a little tight, so some post processing may be necessary to achieve optimal results. The ones pictured are printed with petg, while others have been successfully printed with PLA, but note that over-tightening can cause the holders for the rods to crack. To prevent this, I made the countersinks for the mounting nuts very tight to hold in place while attaching the new bed. Use a screw and a wrench to "pull" them into place before attaching your new build plate. There is now a PDF template available to drill the holes for an MK2B PCB heat plate. It is designed for 8.5 X 11 paper, but I recommend using a custom larger size for better results. Print full size, and depending on your printer's margins, it may not print the corner holes completely. To overcome this issue, measure out from the center hole 104.5mm to each side to mark the center for drill. Then use a square and mark 209 from top holes to bottom. The plate I made is 9" by 12". Mount the brackets no more than 15 mm in from the left side and attach the heat plate according to your X and Y end stop position. I used the same screws, springs, and washers from the stock MPSM to mount the heat plate for a seamless integration. There are several innovative features incorporated into this design. One of them is the belt tensioning system, which combines elements from two existing designs on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1784375 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2501525). This allows for precise control over belt tensions. To further enhance the build plate's functionality, I used a piece of sheet metal from Lowes, drilled, and tapped the holes for the heat plate. This raised the level of the bed, so I suggest using an adjustable endstop like this one (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2217149) to ensure smooth operation. The additional length and weight of the bed will change the center of gravity on your printer, causing it to lean backwards. To overcome this issue, I adapted some feet to widen the stance of the printer, which can be found here (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2821402). As a beginner, I appreciate any helpful feedback you may have. I'm eager to learn and improve my designs. Files have been updated due to a slight misalignment of the timing belt, causing problems at speeds over 120mm/s. Extended brackets for added support have also been included, which are too big to print on the MPSM stock bed. Instead, print the short versions, build the new bed, and then replace them with these extended ones. An add-on brace has also been added to make the extended option a two-part print if desired. While I haven't tested it myself, it should fit snugly. Thank you for all the great feedback!
