MP Select Mini V2 ABS Flag
thingiverse
This design is similar to the MP Select Mini V1 ABS Flag by Waggy-Tail, but it has been resized and chamfered to fit perfectly into the MP Select Mini V2 fan shroud. Its main purpose is to block airflow to the hotend while printing with ABS, reducing the risk of layer de-lamination. Shutting off the fan entirely isn't an option because the heatsink still needs airflow. I had tried using a piece of tape before, but it was a hassle to ensure it properly blocked the outlet and then remove it. I found that wrapping blue tape around the plug portion provides the necessary friction to prevent it from popping out. The design prints flat with ABS at 230C, glass coated with hairspray at 60C, and sticks extremely well even after multiple attempts to get the X-resize and chamfer just right. Although the top layer isn't perfect in the photo, it works flawlessly. After six years of using two Flashforge printers, I've discovered this year that picture frame glass and hairspray with no clips work best. This is my first modification to the mini V2. To keep the plate securely in place, I use five or six silicone thermal pads, each 20mm square and 0.5mm thick. The glass can be easily swapped out in just a few seconds without moving, thanks to these pads.
