MP Select Mini Combo Filament Filter and Guide
thingiverse
This is for the Monoprice MP Select Mini, a filament guide and filter combined. So this is my first creation, it's sort of a remix I guess, but something new really as I had to do quite a bit of work to make it all work correctly. I used Meshmixer and took two parts and created single part that I wanted. I liked both parts and actually put them together manually with glue and a screw but I decided I wanted to create a new part altogether. This combines these two: Monoprice MP Select Mini Filament Guide http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1776779 Filament Dust Filter http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:190118 I combined these but had to do extra work to make it fit correctly. When I created the first one I had to cut and melt and bend to fit everything together, but now I just took all of that knowledge from that build and came up with this combo for the MP Select Mini. You will find the filter box is tight to open, it's made that way as just opening and closing it a few times will loosen the clasp. You don't want the clasp very loose as I found that the filament can actually pop the box open. Edit: I uploaded another STL file with a larger hole in the back section of the top of the box. I had forgot to enlarge the hole there. Because of the angle of the filament going in it tends to rub, this should fix that now. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice MP Select Mini Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 50 Notes: Originally I did 20% infill but found that after a while the guide started to bend from the filament pulling down on it so I found that at least 50% infill stops that. I wanted a nice looking part so I used 0.1 layer height which came out very nice. Supports, yes just touching buildplate for the top of the filter box. For raft just use brim to make sure it stays in place as it's rather thin. Post-Printing Note to install. Notes for installation... Yes you can use existing screws to attach bar to printer. The screw holes slightly smaller so you may have to remove some material, better to be smaller than too large, easier to remove than add material as it were. I just used an X-Acto knife and spun it around the holes top and bottom a few times and it removed enough material, just a few seconds really. The bottom of the box is cut to allow the screw to go in, but the top is not. You have to install with the box in the open position.
