Moyasimon Light Bulbs

Human: Giant Microbe Light Bulbs from the anime Moyasimon I poked a hole in his head to insert the light - check the instructions for sizing tips for your lights. Instructions The files provided are sized for the CVS mini Christmas lights (the super cheap ones). Nevertheless, I recommend you conduct a test print to scale your bulbs first so that they can be snapped onto your lights. Sizing the Bulbs Print just the light guide and see if it fits your lights. The most critical part of the light guide is to ensure the ring fits snugly over the widest part of the light. If the 4 crown pieces on the top break off, don't worry about it. If the light guide doesn't fit, then scale the light guide until it fits. Remember the scale factor that you used because you will scale the moyasimon light bulb file by the same scale factor Scale the light bulb by the same factor you used in (3) Print the microbe on its back with RAFT and SUPPORT (the file should open with him already in the optimal print position) Assembly Remove the support materials with some needle nose pliers. I pulled them from his mouth and out of the top of his head. Don't worry too much about removing all the support material. Press the light bulb onto your christmas light. It should be a snug fit, and it should be able to rotate a bit once it is over the widest part of the light. If the bulb is falling off then add a little bit of hot glue on the backside. If the bulb is too small, you should just print it bigger Tips The support material can be removed easily if the support walls run parallel to the mouth opening. If this sounds confusing, print 2 lights, but rotate one of them 90 degrees on the Z-axis and then see which support material is easier to remove. Copy the bulbs to fill the entire print bed - it took about 10 hours to print 12 bulbs at once (3 x 4 matrix) I printed in clear ABS for the best light diffusion, but opaque white ABS might look cool too (I haven't tried it) There are two files Moyasimon files. I recommend using the regular file WITHOUT the guide. It's more efficient to print the bulbs without the guide and just use hot glue to secure the light. The file with the guide was an early test, and may be of academic interest to some of you. The guides make the support material harder to remove, and don't really add much mechanical support.
