Sometimes, my work demands a soundtrack because I'm completely absorbed in what I'm doing. As a result, I often don't hear people approaching me until it's too late, leading to many awkward moments and one particularly memorable left hook - fortunately, my coworker laughed about it! So I came up with the idea of a cube bell; visitors press a button, and a group of LEDs start blinking. Then I stumbled upon a miniature version of the WOPR from "Wargames", and that was all I needed. To make this project, follow these steps: Print out the design (I ended up scaling the original to 105%), sand it down, paint it with acrylics - except for metal parts, which I used Testors' Brushed Aluminum or a silver paint pen on. For the electronics, you'll need: * An Arduino Nano or Adafruit Trinket microcontroller that fits on a 170-pin breadboard * A USB cable * 7x 5mm LEDs (6 red, 1 amber) * 5x 330 ohm resistors * 1x 10k resistor * A button - I used this one from Adafruit (https://www.adafruit.com/products/...) * 1x 5x7 CM perfboard and some scrap perfboard * Ribbon wire - I got mine on Amazon (https://amzn.com/B007R9SQQM) * Header pins or dupont connectors - you can get a starter kit here (https://amzn.com/B012EOO9Q0) Here's the code:
