(moved) dremel milling toolhead for RepMan
thingiverse
This design has been moved to YouMagine: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/dremel-milling-toolhead-for-repman. It's an alternative toolhead for milling with a RepMan 3D printer, adaptable to printers like Mendel, Darwin, and Makerbot. The toolhead can be used for milling 3D objects (Skeinforge), PCBs (visolate), exact drilling (drill holder attachment), and cutting (90° attachment and cutting-disc). It requires a Dremel Flex Shaft Attachment (Model 225) and a Dremel, along with an M5x95mm (or longer) screw or threaded rod. Documentation can be found at http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/wiki/index.php?title=Milling#milling_PCBs, and forum discussion at http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/forum/post/milling-toolhead-o-thingiverse (using http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/forum/post/3d-model-toolhead-attachment-design-alternative-heads). Updates include a video of PCB milling tests (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOt_yXAkMrs) and experimental Skeinforge settings for milling (http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/wiki/index.php?title=Milling#milling_in_3D). A challenge is issued to get 10 small Mendel parts or 2 larger ones adapted for the RepMan Dremel milling toolhead. Additional design requirements include possibly creating new x-carriage parts and enabling easy switching between extruder and mill with 4 or fewer screws. Instructions for use include removing the collet nut and collet, inserting the Flex Shaft, reattaching the collet and collet nut, replacing part 10056 with the toolhead, attaching a resistor to identify it as a router (if needed), and adjusting the long M5 screw for correct Z endstop height. Enjoy your milling!
