Movable puppet eye and eyelid
thingiverse
These are my 3D models for movable puppet eyes and eyelids. The eye was designed specifically for use on a resin printer, so if you're printing it out using an FDM printer instead, be prepared to do some serious sanding to get the surface smooth. Once I've printed the 3D model of the resin eye, I give it a coat of white spray paint (which helps to prevent yellowing over time) and add some details with acrylic markers. The pupil and iris are then filled in with transparent two-component resin. When printing out the other parts on my FDM printer, I use a layer height of 0.2mm, wall thickness of three, and an infill percentage of ten, all without any supports. The eye can be easily swapped out for a ping pong ball (if you'd prefer to paint directly onto your puppet) that's four centimeters in diameter. A lever is located at the back of the eyelid, and it can be operated using either a Boden cable or a servo motor. You don't necessarily need to print all of the parts - I've included several different versions of the eyelids with varying lever placements. There are also two different eye models available (one with a round pupil and one with a slit-shaped pupil), as well as an optional puppet_eye_backplate.
