Movable Articulated Barrel Hinge
thingiverse
I extended the prior project (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2917604) to make the joint adaptable for manipulation via wires, making it suitable for use in robotic finger joints and other applications. The designed parts can be stacked to achieve movement of the tip in multiple axes. The idea is that two units would be joined together using glue to provide left-right and up-down flexion, but with access holes, there isn't enough space for the glue to flow. To aid fusion, I've included models featuring interlocking notches or crenulations between the top and bottom units. A combined unit designed in a chain-like arrangement is also provided, although I was unable to achieve successful printing using my current printer, so no actual object images are available.
